Teaching through Art History- Oct. 2nd

I truly enjoyed the Art History presentation last Tuesday. During the presentation the guest speaker had us act out a painting, and I thought this was such a great idea to integrate visual arts and drama (something I had never considered before)

I think integration is Key when developing lessons (if possible) and having students act out a sense in a painting by creating dialogue, etc. is an excellent way to integrate the Arts!

What a great reminder of the fun activity we did in class during the presentation! I too, enjoyed the activity and would like to use the same one! Thanks for reminding me of that!

You could integrate this in a Grade seven Lesson while teaching on ancient cultures. I will probably do this if I teach grade seven

I really enjoyed this class too. I would love to take a full art history course one day when I have the extra time. I agree about the integration too. We have such little time in the schoool week that is specifically dedicated to art, but art fits into so many other subjects.Students almost always enjoy activities related to art too so why not spice up a not so exciting subject with some art.
Good post!

I had totally forgotten about this part of the lesson. I commented on someone elses blog about how amazing it was to get so much out of one lesson and now with this added to my memory I am even more impressed. I really enjoyed how each section was short, concise, and yet we all seemed to really get a lot out of the experiences.
